ASIA CUP  2022 LIVE – Bangladesh Squad Asia Cup: Bangladesh has finally announced their squad for the Asia Cup 2022. Shakib Al Hassan has been appointed as captain of the Bangladesh T20 team till 2022. Shakib will also lead Bangladesh in the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. ”Shakib al Hasan is the captain till the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup,” BCB cricket operation chairman Jalal Yunus told reporters after the meeting.

”He admitted that he made a mistake (signing the deal with Betwinner News) and he said that won’t make any further mistake and we are hopeful,” he said.

  • Shakib has been in the role before, having filled in as the stand-in T20I skipper in 2009-10.
  • He was later suspended by ICC for failing to report corrupt approaches.
  • He again was made captain from 2017 to 2019, He led the team on 17 occasions, and Bangladesh won seven matches out of 21 games under his leadership.
  • India and Pakistan have announced their squads for the Asia Cup 2022
  • The original deadline for the squad announcement was August 8
  • Bangladesh are placed in Group B, which includes  Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

India and Pakistan gear-up for contest

Both India and Pakistan have announced their squad and met the deadline for the tournament. While Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami were the big misses from the Indian side Pakistan have also made a  surprise exclusion. Hasan Ali has been dropped form the Pakistan squad as they want an inform team for the big tournament.

Shaheen Afridi who is nursing an injury at the moment has made the cut for the Pakistan side. KL Rahul has also returned for India and will be making his first appearance after the IPL 2022.
