Suryakumar needed 50 runs to overtake Azam in the fifth T20I against West Indies. He could not surpass the Pakistani skipper as Yadav was rested. There is now 13 points gap between Azam and Surya.   • Yadav made his T20I debut in 2021 against England and has gone on to become India’s consistent batter.
  • The 31-year-old has played 23 T20Is and has scored 672 runs at a strike rate of 175.46.
  • Yadav’s strike rate is best for the India batter in the game’s shortest format. In all the 21 innings that he has batted, he has consistently got to 30 plus score.
  • Such has been his appetite for runs that he is the only India batter to feature in the top 10 rankings for batters. He has currently scored 404 runs in 11 T20Is in 2022.
  • He was also the leading run-getter in the T20 series against West Indies scoring 135 runs
  • Now, he is in touching distance to dethrone Azam from the top spot. If the India batter manages to score 50 plus score in the India vs Pakistan clash on August 28, he can edge Azam.
