Asia Cup 2022: Deepak Chahar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh – Who will replace injured Jasprit Bumrah in India’s Asia Cup squad? – Check out
1. Arshdeep Singh
Arshdeep Singh has emerged as a genuine contender to make India’s t20 World Cup squad. The left-arm pacer has impressed in his short international career so far with his ability to execute plans at the death. The 23-year-old was a regular feature in the T20Is against West Indies and was economical despite bowling the difficult overs in the powerplay and at the death. With Bumrah and Harshal Patel ruled out, Arshdeep Singh will be expected to shoulder the death overs burden and the Punjab star has shown he is more than capable of doing so.
2. Deepak Chahar
Out of action for the past six months, Deepak Chahar is back in the India reckoning having made a complete recovery from his injuries. Chahar was one of the favourites to make the T20 world Cup squad before an injury and a long rehabilitation forced him onto the sidelines. The medium pacer has returned to the team against Zimbabwe and given Harshal and Bumrah’s injury could be thrust into action. Chahar’s exceptional ability to generate wickets with the new ball and get runs lower down the order could propel him into contention.
3. Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna has been in and around the Indian set-up for some time and while his T20I numbers are far from satisfactory, the Karnataka pacer had a good IPL season with the Rajasthan Royals. Krishna is once again adept at bowling in all stages of the game and bagged 19 wickets for the Royals who reached the final. His ability to hit the deck could be vital on pitches with spongy bounce, like the ones in the UAE.
4. Avesh Khan
Avesh Khan has been given a long rope by the team management and the Indian pacer delivered in the 4th T20I against West Indies. The LSG star has struggled for consistency in his short T20I career but has already put in a couple;e of player-of-the-match performances to stay in the hunt. His pace and the ability to bowl at the death make him an ideal alternative for Bumrah.
