India boxer Nikhat Zareen will be seen in action today at the ongoing Commonwealth 2022 Games. She will battle it out with England’s Savannah Alfia Stubley in the 48 kg -50 kg (light flyweight) semifinal 2 match. Zareen stormed into CWG 2022 semis by displaying a stellar performance in the quarterfinals. She beat Wales Helen 5-0 and has assured India of a bronze medal in the showpiece event.
Zareen has form and momentum, and she will eye a gold medal after earlier winning gold at the Women’s World Championships in May 2022.
Amit Panghal
Apart from Zareen, boxer Amit Panghal has also assured India of a bronze medal. He will lock horns with Zambia’s Patrick Chinyemba in the semifinal 1 match for the 48 kg-51 kg (Flyweight) category. The boxer also put on a dominating performance in the quarterfinals and showed an incredible amount of technical superiority in each of his bouts. Panghal is determined to turn his Tokyo Olympics heartbreak and is aiming for gold in his CWG semifinal clash.
