Alexander Volknovski: Robert Whittaker believes there’s NO CHALLENGE for Volk at Featherweight, urges him to move up

Alexander Volknovski: UFC Middleweight champion Robert Whittaker has suggested that Volk should move up in weight to fight newer challenges. Follow UFC Live Updates and News with InsideSport.IN

According to Whittaker, Alexander Volkanovski doesn’t have anybody to really challenge him in the Featherweight division and he has to be moving up in order to find one. During a recent interview with Fox Sports Australia and upon being asked to share his opinion on what’s next for the Featherweight king, he said:

“Honestly, he [Alexander Volkanovski] has to probably be moving up. I just don’t see the challenge in the division for him right now. You can see when Alex has fought anyone, but Holloway, that the level difference is just too much.”

It is worth noting that Alexander Volkanovski recently defeated Max Holloway for the third time. Going into the fight, there was a lot of debate as to who actually won the fight in their previous outings, however, this time the Australian left no doubts. He ended up dominating Holloway for the full five rounds further establishing himself as the best in the the division as of now.

As of now, the Australian has only two new challengers left in the division, Josh Emmett and Yair Rodriguez. The two will most likely fight each other later this year in a title eliminator to face Volkanovski while the champ recovers from a hand injury in the meantime.

Alexander Volkanoski has also established himself as one of the greatest in the Featherweight division, if not the best. So, a move up to the Lightweight division won’t come as a surprise. With that being said, it will be interesting to see as to what’s next for the Featherweight king, a move up to the Lightweight division or continued dominance at Featherweight.
