However, it is important to note that his scores came a decade ago, in 2010-11. One can still say that it was early on during his career. He scored those runs as a middle-order batter. Since then, a lot has changed in his batting over the last decade or so. He has moved to the top of the order, and has belted bowlers all around the park as an opener.

Rohit is set to open alongside Ishan Kishan in the first T20. With the former having taken a rest from the ODI series, Rohit is fresh and eager to get back to his scoring ways.

His overall record against West Indies in T20: If his record in the past against West Indies in West Indies does not augur well, it is decent overall. He has amassed 585 runs in 18 matches at an average of 39, which is good in the shorter format. He has one century against the West Indies in 2018.

His unbeaten 111 against the Windies also happens to be his last ton for India. Since then he has scored 11 half-centuries, but has failed to convert that into a ton.

Can he deliver big in first T20? If Rohit is on song, there is no better player in world cricket. The opener has played an aggressive brand of cricket in the last series against England, and one hopes to witness a similar approach against West Indies. He looked good, but failed to convert that starts into meaningful scores, which he needs to improve in the five-match series starting from the first T20.

It is also imperative for the Indian to get going from the first match itself. All the matches from here on are important with the T20 World Cup coming up in Australia in October.
