While Samson was dismissed for 54, Axar continued his exploits to lead the Indian team to a famous win while chasing 312. Dhawan sighted IPL as the main reason for performance of the team. Shikhar Dhawan sights IPL’s importance

Speaking after the match, Dhawan sighted IPL as the main reason for India’s success in the ODI series and said, “It was a great team performance. Boys didn’t lose the self belief, that is amazing.

“Iyer, Sanju, Axar everyone was amazing, Even Avesh came out in his debut game and scored those 11 important runs.

“Thanks to IPL, they perform on a huge stage. I felt that we bowled nicely. They got off to a good start,” Dhawan said in the post-match.

IPL contributes to India’s success

  • Sanju Samson was Rajasthan Royals (RR) chief architect alongside Jos Buttler and Yuzivendra Chahal in the IPL 2022.
  • Samson scored 458 runs in 17 matches while Axar Patel scalped 6 wickets in the IPL as the former was seen in stellar form.
  • The IPL played an important part for Sanju Samosn’s return back to the team, which was just his third ODI match on Sunday.
  • Axar Patel on the flip side is another player who is buying for a permanent place in the Indian team and will be a good choice to have along side Yuzivendra Chahal.

India clinch second ODI

Chasing a 312-run target, India were off to a very slow start. Shikhar Dhawan struggled to find any momentum. But it was Shubman Gill, who kept the scorecard ticking with a fine 49-ball 43. India could only score 42 in the first powerplay before a brief rain break.

However, it was Axar Patel it was Axar Patel that turned out to be an unlikely hero for India as he smashed 35-ball 64 to power India to 2-wicket victory against West Indies. With that India also sealed the series 2-0 and also won 12 ODI series on the trot. India chased down 312-run target with two balls to go.
