IND vs WI ODI Series – Nicholas Pooran WestIndies Captain fires a salvoNicholas Pooran makes cheeky statement
Ahead of the first ODI in Trinidad, the West Indies captain played mind games and quoted, “so many Indian players skipping the ODI series makes out job a little easier, even though nothing can be taken for granted. They have millions of players who can come and do that role.”
While speaking of the T20I series Pooran added, “They have match-winners with bat and ball and we can come out and challenge them here and Florida, it will send a message across the cricket world. And it will be fabulous for us as a group as well.”
Team India are set to play five-match T20I series with two matches taking place in the United States. Florida will host India’s fourth and fifth T20I in the month of August.
Big Names absent for Men in Blue
The Indian team is missing the services of star names like Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma. Too much stress on the players with hectic cricket schedule was sighted as the reason for the players to be rested.
While Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant will return for the side in the T20I series, Bumrah and Kohli will miss the tour altogether. Hardik Pandya is another notable absentee in the team who has been given time off. Apart from them, limited-overs vice captain KL Rahul is also facing race against time to be fir for the West Indies after he underwent hernia surgery.
India with Proud record In Port of Spain

- India will have bad memories from the 2007 ODI World Cup, when they were eliminated in the group stages and played all its matches at the Queen’s Park Oval.
- India lost to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on that occasion and only won against Bermuda.
- India are unbeaten at the venue since that defeat to Sri Lanka in 2007, and haven;t lost in 10 matches in ODIs.
