KL Rahul has missing action for the last 2 months. Following the IPL 2022, he was selected to be the captain of the Indian squad for the 5-match T20I series against South Africa. However, KL Rahul opted out of the team just a day before the first game with a groin strain.

Later it was revealed that Rahul has suffered from a sports hernia and got his operation done in Germany. Rahul began his preparation to get himself back into the Indian squad and is nearing his full fitness. As for Jhulan Goswami, she is not a part of the squad for the T20 Commonwealth Games and is yet to announce her retirement from the game. Goswami too like Rahul is training at the NCA.

Rahul’s return to India is subjected to him passing the fitness test scheduled to take place this week. If Rahul passes the fitness test he will travel to West Indies to take part in the upcoming 3-ODI and 5-T20I games.
“Both KL and Kuldeep will have a fitness test this week. Their recovery is going really well and we hope they return to action. Kuldeep is already 80% match fit. For KL, it is a work in progress since he recently had a surgery. He has begun practice and depending on the level of fitness, we will take a call,” a selection committee member told InsideSport.
