Due to unfavorable financial conditions, it was discontinued shortly after its 100th anniversary in 2008 with 86 races having been held. 2018 saw the race’s return to the Formula 1 calendar.

- Gugelmin’s Flipping Crazy Start in 1989 F1 French GP:- In 1989, Brazilian driver Mauricio Gugelmin caused Lap 1 carnage by colliding with Thierry Boutsen’s Ferrari. The crash sent him flipping and he landed in the middle of the first corner.

2. Schumacher snatched Kimi’s win (2002) – After Kimi locked up and ran deep into the corner, Schumacher, who was trailing Raikkonen, took control and won the French GP & also became Formula 1 World Champion for the fifth time. Kimi later told that it was his mistake that cost him the win.

3. Vettel and Bottas collide at the start of the 2018 F1 French GP – Sebastian Vettel collided with Valtteri Bottas at the start of the race, causing damage to both of them. A Turn 1 collision took both of them out of contention for victory. Vettel later received a penalty and finished fifth, and Bottas finished seventh.

5. Jacques Villeneuve’s Williams crashed into the barriers in the 1996 French GP qualifying – Jacques couldn’t control the FW18 as he went on to gravel and finally hit the Barriers. The Williams team put a lot of effort into repairing JV’s FW18 and getting it ready for the race after his French GP qualifying crash. Later, he finished in second place.
