Saina Nehwal vs BAI – CWG 2022 LIVE Updates: Saina Nehwal is one of India’s best ever badminton players. But still the shuttler is not a part of the Indian team for the Commonwealth Games 2022. It has been a difficult time for Saina Nehwal. Saina’s husband and former Commonwealth Gold Medallist Parupalli Kashyap has accused that ‘Badminton Association of India has ill-treated Saina’.  According to Kashyap, Saina is so hurt with the treatment that she has broken down a number of times following the non-selection of CWG 2022. “She’s been in tears often. The issue of non-selection crops up in conversations every second day when she speaks. It’s very very tough to even practice. You are not sure, mentally, whether you are preparing to fight your own people or opponents. Your intentions in the match go all wrong in such times, and it’s a terrible mind space,” The Indian Express quoted Kashyap as saying.

There is a sense of frustration, and Kashyap let it off after Nehwal edged past Chinese girl He Biingjio in the ongoing Singapore Open. “It’s about the amount of disrespect shown to a player. It’s about your own people treating you like s*#@,” said Kashyap.

She defeated Bingjio to reach the quarterfinals of the competition. However, it has been a tough phase for the Indian shuttler, who has been facing early exits from the competition.

The relationship between the federation and the player also seems to have gone a bit sour. Even the selection trials were announced during a period when she was in her recovery phase from injury too. Saina even lashed out at the Badminton Association of India officials questioning them about the timing of the trials. The major problem for the husband wife pair has been BAI’s silence.

“It’s a wrong notion that she’s arrogant because she doesn’t talk that much. She just minds her own business. No doubt what happened spurred her on, but this situation was not required. They should’ve given her minimum respect of (having) a chat,” he said.

“If you want to be strict I understand, but a simple chat is not a free ride. You could’ve disciplined her in a chat, speaking to her. No one replied to her messages. It’s extremely hurtful.”

Currently the Indian squad comprises of ten players, including two women’s singles player, PV Sindhu and Aakarshi Kashyap.
