The World Championships will, however, miss Johannes Vetter, who is absent from the competition due to inury. Even without the German, the field is very competitive and it could be anyone’s game in Oregon.

It just shows the level of competition, which is going to be present at the big ticket event in the United States.
Even Neeraj acknowledges the top level of competition that has taken place in the last few months. He does not see that changing at the Worlds.

“In javelin throw, there is good competition right now. It has been quite competitive, you must have seen that. There have been competitions where some of them have even thrown above the 89m mark also,” Neeraj said during a virtual interaction on Wednesday.
“Like me, there are other competitors, who have been throwing consistently as well. With the kind of consistency athletes have shown, I feel competition will be strong. But yes we will see it that day itself.”

The competition is expected to be hot and Neeraj needs to be at his best with Peters in some scintillating form this season. He has thrown the spear beyond the 90m mark more than once this season while Neeraj is yet to breach that mark.
However, Neeraj has defeated Peters twice in the Turku and Kouorante. He can use that as an inspiration to win a gold medal at the World Championships.
