Vettel who is currently fourteenth in the drivers’ standings said, “I don’t want to fight for the points, but for the victory. Otherwise, the fun is gone for me. In the coming weeks, in consultation with my family, I will be clear about how realistic my goals are and about how much energy I still have to grow with the team.”

The four-time title holder is one of the most experienced racers on the grid and has invested a lot of his energy in the sport battling for race wins and championships. Yet, that has not been the situation for the most recent few years, and fans are more used to seeing him battle for the little points than contending towards the front.

While the German should take some responsibility, he knows that he is provided with an uncompetitive car by Aston Martin. Meanwhile, he is in his second season with the team and is yet to be given a competitive car to match his desire.

Formula 1: Sebastian Vettel finished second at the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

In 2021 there were a few high points as the moment came in Baku, where he completed second at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Vettel thought he had gotten one more podium in Hungary later that season, but the German got disqualified as authorities couldn’t take a sufficiently enormous fuel test from his vehicle.

Aston Martin went off the bubble in the last part of the year, and have so far disappointed in 2022. The vehicle is obviously not quite as serious as the group needs, and the only bright moment for Vettel came in Baku where he claimed the sixth spot.

Thus, Vettel’s future with the team and in the sport is up in the air. His current contract ends toward the end of the F1 2022 season, and the German has given a clue that this may be the ideal opportunity for him to call time on his prize-loaded F1 career.
