Jorge Masvidal vs Gilbert burns: Gilbert Burns’s loss in UFC 273 against Khamzat Chimaev has knocked out his position in the division, yet he plans to rise up to the top contenders in his next fight.

The Brazilian ranked two in the welterweight division glided to rank 4 amidst his fight with the rising star, Khamzat Chimaev.

UFC 273 witnessed a spectacular 3-round match between Gilbert burns and Khamzat Chimaev. Burns’s loss in the match was so edgy that some believe it might need a rematch.

However, The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt needs to regain his lost position by challenging only one of the top contenders, not anyone below his rank.

Jorge Masvidal and Gilbert Burns had their tweets exchanged for looking for their potential clash, while Burns being an elite world-class grappler, even said he wouldn’t use his grappling skills on Gamebred.

Masvidal said on The Fighter vs. The Writer. “I don’t want Gilbert to sign no contract that says no takedowns, Do your game, my brother. Do what’s gotten you here”.

“I know he’s a world champion in [Brazilian jiu-jitsu]. I’m trying to work on my grappling, always trying to get better. So do everything that God has allowed you to do and blessed you to do.”

“Definitely a fight that interests me,” Masvidal said about Burns. “Before the Conor fight came up, that’s the one that called me out and I was like, this is a guy that comes to fight.

“The whole world doesn’t know him but they will, because he comes to fight. He’s going to try and choke you out, knock you out, and just has a good style. I like the fight.”

“Once some of these legal issues I’ve got going on [are settled], I’m setting a date,” Masvidal said. “That’s another reason why we’re not setting dates right now because I’ve just got to figure out some things and then we’ll lock it in.”

There is an ongoing battery trial on Masvidal on the incident. However, both the fighters are welterweight tycoons and Gilbert Burns doesn’t want to miss out on a chance to fight them. Among them, Colby Covington ranks as the no1 contender in the welterweight division.

A fight with any top contender in the welterweight division would fetch a quick climb for burns. He previously challenged the pound-to-pound number one fighter, Kamaru Usman, and suffered a loss
