The Australian coach has been with Sunrirsers Hyderabad since 2020 and despite a big shakeup, he survived. But it is still unknown whether he will continue to be a part of SRH staff after yet another disappointing season in IPL 2022. His contarct with SRH is up for renewal this year. Before IPL stint, he led Sri Lanka to World Cup final in 2007.

At the Glazers family-owned franchise, he will oversee the appointment of coaches and build a team for the inaugural edition that starts on January 6 and will run till February 12.
Capri Global franchise: The other high-profile appointment is of R Sridhar. The former India fielding coach has been roped in by Capri Global. The franchise is owned by Rajesh Sharma, a Mumbai-based businessman. Sridhar will also be the team director and will oversee the appointment of coaches. Sridhar confirmed his appointment to Cricbuzz.

Adani Group franchise: The third franchise-led by Adani Group, which failed to get an IPL franchise, is in talks with Andy Flower. The Lucknow Super Giants Head Coach has been in franchise leagues. Apart from guiding LSG to the playoffs in their debut season, he has also coached in Pakistan Super League and the Hundred.

No permanent bases for RIL-led franchise, Adani Group and Glazers Family-led teams. - Each team will be able to sign four-five players of their choice outside player draft.

- The inaugural edition of the ILT20 will have 32 games and will kick off on January 6 with the final on February 12.

The other three franchises which are led by IPL team owners in GMR Group (Delhi Capitals), Reliance Industries (Mumbai Indians) and Kolkata Knight Riders Group are expected to bring their existing coaching staff to the UAE T20 League.
While Delhi Capitals are coached by Ricky Ponting and Praveen Amre besides Shane Watson, Mumbai Indians can bring in Zaheer Khan and Mahela Jayawerdena as part of their coaching staff. As for KKR, they will have to appoint a new head coach for the IPL 2023. Brendon McCullum parted ways after being appointed as the Head Coach of England’s Test team in April.
