The Telegraph are reporting that the deal has been held up due to wages owed to De Jong, who deferred wages and bonuses to help ease the financial pressure at the club during the Covid-19 pandemic.

United are determined to add new signings before the week is out, however. Having already reached agreement in principle on a three year deal with Christian Eriksen they are focusing attention on Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez.
