Laxman accompanied Team India as its coach during its two T20 match series against Ireland. Laxman currently also holds the position of Chief of the National Cricket Academy (NCA),

The stylish former India batsman travelled to England with the T20 from Ireland. The same team played two practice matches against English Counties.

The information coming in from BCCI sources is that Laxman will now take the T20 team to Southampton and will play the 1st T20.

IND vs ENG 1st T20: VVS Laxman likely to be in charge in 1st T20 against England, Rahul Dravid & Test regulars to get break after 5th Test

Indian Cricket Team Coach – India and England are currently playing the fifth and final Test of the series at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Both teams will square off in a three-match T20I series from July 7 onwards. Both sides have announced their squads for the series.

Laxman will be joined by fit again captain Rohit Sharma during the 1st T20.

After having tested negative for COVID-19, Rohit did his 1st practice session on Sunday. He will now have to undergo mandatory cardiovascular tests today after the DAY’s play in Edgbaston.

These tests will determine whether he is fit to play in the 1st T20 vs England in Southampton on July 7 or not:

“Yes, Rohit has tested negative and as per medical protocols is now out of quarantine. However, he did not play T20 warm-up game against Northamptonshire as he will need some recovery time and training ahead of first T20,” a senior BCCI official told PTI.
