IPL 2019 LIVE: Star India plans eight language broadcast

The Indian Premier League Season 12 (IPL 2019) will be broadcast live in eight languages, including Hindi and English, across nearly twenty Star India Network screens.

The Indian Premier League host broadcaster has so far confirmed the Season 12 broadcast in six Indian regional languages, besides Hindi and English. The Hindi broadcast if confirmed on Star Sports 1 Hindi HD and SD channels, while the live English broadcast will be on all other Star Sports pay channels.

However, Star India has so far confirmed 12 Indian regional language screens for the IPL 2019 broadcast. These include Star’s regional language sports channels – Star Sports  Tamil, Star Sports Telugu, Star Sports Kannada and soon to be launched Star Sports Bangla.

As reported by InsideSport.co earlier, Star Sports network will launch the dedicated Bengali language sports channel next month. The channel may go on air with the live IPL broadcast on March 23.

Star India has dedicated the following channels for the regional language broadcast:

Tamil : Star Sports Tamil (All match days); and Vijay Super SD for the Opening, Closing ceremonies and live matches on all Sundays.

Telugu : Star Sports Telugu (All match days); and Maa Movies SD and HD for the Opening, Closing ceremonies and live matches on all Sundays.

Kannada : Star Sports Kannada (All match days); and Star Suvarna SD and HD for the Opening, Closing ceremonies and live matches on all Sundays.

Bengali : Star Sports Bangla  (All match days); and Jalsha Movies SD and HD for the Opening, Closing ceremonies and live matches on all Sundays. 

Marathi : Star Pravah SD and HD for the Opening, Closing ceremonies and live matches on all Sundays.

Malayalam : Asianet Plus SD o for the Opening, Closing ceremonies and live matches on all Sundays.

All the action will also be simulcast on Star’s video on demand platform Hotstar.

The IPL Season 12 will start on March 23 when defending champions Chennai Super Kings play host to the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore.

The BCCI has released a tentative schedule for the first two weeks of the IPL 2019. A final schedule will only be confirmed after the Lok Sabha polls dates are announced by the Election Commission of India.

IPL 2019 Opening ceremony scrapped; fund allocated to CRPF martyrs’ families

The BCCI meanwhile has cancelled the opening ceremony for the IPL 2019. The fund allocated for the entertainment curtain raiser has been sanctioned for the welfare of the Pulwama martyrs families.
