IND vs ENG LIVE: Rohit Sharma NOT RULED OUT, to test twice in next few hours as Rahul Dravid remains tight-lipped on captaincy – Follow LIVE updates

Rahul Dravid Press Conference: Coach Dravid remained tight lipped on Rohit Sharma’s availability for the Edgbaston Test during a press conference on Wednesday.

According to Dravid, Rohit will undergo two more tests – one this evening and another on Thursday.
The results of tests according to Dravid will determine Rohit Sharma’s availability status.
Dravid further admitted that should Rohit miss the Test, Jasprit Burmah will captain the side for the first time.
Dravid’s confusing statement: Dravid’s statement is nothing less than confusing.
Reason 1: As per the local government rules, anyone who tests positive will have to stay in isolation for five days. Now as Rohit tested positive again, he will have to stay isolated for few more days. How is it possible that a player tests positive today and will be playing a match 36 hours later.
Reaon 2: It is physicially and mentally not possible for a player to play 5 DAY test match after being tested positive just 36 hours ago. Even if Rohit tests negative in the next two tests it will be difficult for him to LEAD INDIA and play the match.
Dravid further said, “Obviously, he’ll have to come out of that, and it’s really up to the medical team and sports science team to decide on that.
We haven’t had a chance to see him, since he is in isolation. But we will keep monitoring the situation.”
InsideSport can confirm Rohit hasn’t reached Birmingham as yet. He is isolated in his room in Leicestershire hotel.
A BCCI official told InsideSport after Rohit Sharam positive test report today that there is no way he can play the TEST MATCH now.
“He can’t play the match now. He has just tested positive, how is it possible that he can play a match on Friday. He will be declared officially ruled out soon”, confirmed the BCCI official.
Bumrah meanwhile has been informed about Rohit’s situation. Incidentally the leading Indian bowler has never led in any cricket, and this will be his maiden captaincy stint.
He will also become the first fast bowler to captain India since Kapil Dev.
