The launch of Mumbai Indians team jersey has also laid to rest all speculation about the team’s title sponsor for the Indian Premier League Season 12.

Korean electronics and smartphone giant  Samsung Electronic is confirmed as the title sponsor of the Reliance-owned IPL franchisee for the second successive year. The team jersey – new swag for the new season – launched today (Sunday) has SAMSUNG inked most prominently on the players chests.

Mumbai Indians have shared a video of the team members in the new look on their social media platforms.

The tweet featuring is captioned  “New Season, new avtar”.

Incidentally, Mumbai team’s jersey launch follows the unveiling of the Delhi Capitals on Saturday. The two teams will be against each other in the second game of the IPL 2019 on March 24.

Skipper Rohit Sharma, pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah along with Pandya brothers Hardik and Krunal are the lead characters in the minute-long video. The foursome in tandem share  the rhymed message – Season Naya (Hardik). Andaaz Naya (Rohit). Tewar Wahi (Krunal) and Flavour Naya (Rohit). In the latter part the fourseome urges the fans to watch their favourite team in a fresh ‘avatar’ in the upcoming IPL 2019.

Mumbai Indians and Samsung, according to sources, had agreed for a deal between ₹ 24 crore and ₹ 25 crore. The Korean brand had replaced Videocon, the longest title sponsor of the team for five years.

Intertingly though, the Samsung logo still doesn’t figure among the sponsors and partners on the Mumbai Indians website. In fact there is no principal sponsor.

Mumbai Indians and Samsung have agreed to extend the deal after prolonged negotiations. Until last week, they were among the four teams – Kings XI Punjab, Royal Challengers Bangalore and SunRisers Hyderabad being the other three – hunting for the title sponsors.
