Red Bull’s head Horner conceded that those updates would see Mercedes become ‘an element’ one week from now as Hamilton will endeavour to win his fourth continuous British Grand Prix, and eighth in nine years. “Mercedes’ pace in the race today [at the Canadian Grand Prix] was, you know, they were competitive. Smooth circuit [at Silverstone], they could be a factor.”
F1 British GP: Lewis Hamilton after winning the 2021 British Grand Prix.“We know the Ferrari’s good in the high-speed stuff. Meanwhile, we saw that in Barcelona, so you’d think it would swing perhaps back towards Ferrari’s domain. We knew Azerbaijan and this race were tracks that might favour us. And we’ve nailed those two results, which I’m really delighted with,” Horner added.

“It’s always a thrill to race at Silverstone. It’s our local race, we’re only 15 minutes up the road. I’m sure there’s going to be huge support for Lewis and George and Lando [Norris]. But, you know, we’re going there leading both championships, as we did last year, but just hoping for a little bit of a better end result than what we got,” Horner concluded.
Marko affirmed that updates would be coming at Silverstone from Red Bull, yet didn’t affirm the size of the package. Mercedes have previously declared that they will carry upgrades with them to Silverstone, as technical director Mike Elliott conceded that they will be ‘attempting to push the vehicle forward’ after back-to-back 3-4 completions for Hamilton and George Russell.

Red Bull’s factory is situated in Milton Keynes and having fourteen days between races is likewise great for Horner and Verstappen according from a logistical perspective. Max Verstappen is 46 points ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez, who is second in the driver’s standings, and 49 in front of Ferrari’s Leclerc as the 24-year-old endeavours to bring home consecutive Formula 1 title.
