Indian captain Rohit Sharma was at the receiving end of Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling for the first time in red-ball cricket as the two long-time teammates played against each other in the warm-up game. With a view to providing everyone with game time, the BCCI had four players – Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Prasidh Krishna and Cheteshwar Pujara playing for the Leicestershire team in the unofficial fixture.

It meant that Bumrah, who made his way to stardom under Rohit Sharma in the IPL had the prospect of bowling to his Mumbai Indians and Indian captain Rohit Sharma. The Hit-Man struggled to come to terms with Bumrah’s lethal pace, playing some streaky shots in the first hour.
Bumrah later made his mark by delivering a knockout punch, surprising Rohit with a bouncer. Rohit straightaway called for the physio but luckily it wasn’t a dangerous blow and the Indian captain managed to survive the spell.
