“I am very happy and it’s an incredible atmosphere and the team to be a part of. For about 3 years I have been looking from the outside and now I know what a special feeling it is to be a part of the team. I am grateful to play again,” said Dinesh Karthik.

The BCCI released a video where the comeback man was seen sharing and reflecting his thoughts on being back on the Indian side after a long bap. Karthik last featured for India in the ICC 2019 Cricket World Cup semi-finals.

“I have been some many times, and I have always wanted to come back to the Indian team. Whether I have played domestic cricket or IPL, the fire in my belly has always been to come back here, wear the national colours and represent India. It is a dream that I have, that made me go consistently for the last decade,” added Karthik.

In the middle of IPL 2021. Dinesh Karthik reluctantly gave away his captaincy after his and his sides’ poor form. Consequently, he was not retained by Kolkata Knight Riders. Karthik got a chance to impress in IPL 2022 when RCB signed him, and he did not fail. Donning the new persona of a finisher he went to score 330 runs in 16 innings with 10 not-outs. With an impressive average of 55.00, he was one of the star performers for his side.

Karthik’s heroics in IPL 2022 earned him a spot in ongoing India vs South Africa series and the middle-order batter has been fairly decent. He managed to score 37 runs in 3 innings with a decent average of 37.00. His fiery hitting came in the second T20I where he slammed 30 off just 21 balls.

“It’s been a decade and a half since the first T20I and now to be back in the squad against South Africa is a lovely feeling. Cricket has obviously changed in the last 15 years in this format. I have been a part of it and seeing it grow in various phases is special. I am so happy and lucky to be here,” Karthik concluded.
