Rishabh Pant-led Team India suffered a 7-wicket loss to South Africa after a superb show by David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen. Chasing a target of huge 212 runs, South Africa started well before Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed Temba Bavuma. But Dwayne Pretorius, who was promoted to No 3, took on Yuzvendra Chahal and Hardik Pandya, smashing 13-ball 29 to take the attack to India. Then, India made a mini comeback with Harshal Patel removing Pretorius and Axar Patel sending Quinton de Kock back. South Africa still needed 131 runs to win.

But then Gujarat Titans’ title-winning hero David Miller came to the fore. An attacking Miller tore apart India’s bowling attack in the middle overs. Rassie van der Dussen struggled initially but he too came back to life after he was dropped by Shreyas Iyer on 29.
David Miller smashed 46-ball 75 while Rassie van der Dussen hammered 31-ball 64 to win the match by 7 wickets.

Earlier, sent to bat, India started strongly with Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad added 57 runs for the opening stand. After Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for 23 by Wayne Parnell. But Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan continued to hammer.
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan added 80 runs off 40 balls to make short work of Temba Bavuma’s decision to bowl first. Ishan smashed 76 off 48 balls while Shreyas scored 36 off 27 balls. But the two departed in quick succession near the death overs with Dwayne Pretorius and Keshav Maharaj getting the wickets.

However, Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant emerged as two new finishers for Team India. The two 46 runs off just 18 balls to keep the scorecard ticking. Hardik, making India comeback after 7 months, smashed 31 off 12 balls while Pant smashed 29 off 16 to take India to 211/4. But it proved not enough.
