Hamilton, who has struggled massively this season so far, said, “I hope by the time we get to the British Grand Prix at Silverstone we will have the car as we want it. To be able to fight with Ferrari and Red Bull.”

“It would be nice if we can give them a run for their money at our home race. I know that work is going on tirelessly in the factory to make progress with the car. And I have no doubt we will get it right sooner or later,” he further added.

The reigning Constructors’ champions have have currently the third quickest vehicle, according to team principal Toto Wolff. But this is ‘not satisfactory’ to them given their hefty standards and results since the turbo-hybrid era began in 2014.

Hamilton has constantly supported his group this season, despite having to drive a slow and unsteady car. He also applauded the work that has happened in the background to attempt to overcome any issues to Red Bull and Ferrari which has for the most part been somewhere in the range of five and eight tenths for each lap in qualifying such long ways in 2022.

The Brit has recognized the group are ‘not on the correct way’ right now, but rather desires to have an effective homecoming with the armies of British fans in participation toward the beginning of July.

Mercedes’ main concern this season has been the ‘porpoising’ present on their vehicle, which sees the vehicle bounce at fast speed because of the ground-effect aerodynamics features hauling the vehicle towards the track surface from the floor, which is where the vehicle’s downforce is currently created.

Having seemed to have the issue generally taken care of in Spain, Mercedes made a regressive stride on that front last time out in Monaco with the unforgiving surface seeing the return of their porpoising issues. However, team principal Wolff doesn’t completely accept that it was a similar sort of issue they had encountered previously.

Wolff said, “This was not the bouncing that used to occur on the straights, under full aerodynamic load. That was something new and has more to do with the low-slung vehicle. The bumps in Monaco didn’t help with that.”
