As per ESPNCricinfo, the International Cricket Council (ICC) are all set to announce Lord’s Cricket Ground as the venue for the 2023 WTC Final. The iconic cricket stadium was marked as the venue last year, but COVID-19 and the bio secure arrangements meant that the switch was made.
Speaking to BBC on the sidelines of the ENG vs NZ Test, ICC chairmam Greg Barclay said, “Ithink it is scheduled for Lord’s, that was always the intention. ”
“It’s June so that rules out a number of other venues and we’ve got to get certainty around where it’s hosted. We’re out of Covid now so subject to arrangements being made and being able to be hosted out of Lord’s I think that’s the intention.”

It is likely to be a next couple of months for ECB, with England set for a bilateral marathon sandwiched between World Cup. With the Ashes to follow, Lord’s could very well open as an option to host final. A final decision on the same could be announced at ICC’s next annual general meeting.
Meanwhile, Barclay backed claims that suggested a viable alternatives already . He said, “Men’s Test cricket is something that represents the history and legacy of the game, it is what makes the game unique. ”
