F1 Monaco GP: Bernie Ecclestone claims F1 bosses don’t have the balls to axe Monaco GP: The former CEO of Formula 1 Bernie Ecclestone believes that Monaco GP will stay on the F1 calendar in the future. Ecclestone believes axing Monaco GP for the current bosses will be a hard task, saying “I don’t think anyone’s got the balls to take that race away from Monaco. Whether it’s the worst race or the best race or whatever, it’s the crown jewels.”

Last week, the F1 veteran also had a word with Michel Boeri, president of the Automobile Club de Monaco. “They are still super, super happy and confident with everything without any drama. So I don’t see any problems there at all,” he revealed

For a really long time, Monte Carlo has served as the gem in the sport’s crown. The race in Monte Carlo every year draws in the rich and popular from sports stars to royalty and has for some time been viewed as one of the most esteemed and spectacular occasions in the whole sporting world.

With the emergence of new venues in the likes of Qatar, Miami and Las Vegas, Monaco finds itself under threat of being axed from the calender. Moreover, the track’s unacceptability for current vehicles is only a glimpse of a larger problem, as TV direction, sponsorship, and an essentially lower attendance on race ends of the week issue for F1’s VIP.

While it appears to be seemingly impossible that the Monaco Grand Prix would vanish out and out, the possibilities of it turning into an occasion where the races take place every alternate year are high.
