The men in blue will field many new faces in this series, and for some players, this will be a chance of securing their place for the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup. Notably, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to rest many big names for this series, keeping in mind the upcoming tour of England. With the youngsters likely to be given an opportunity against the Proteas, every Indian player will be keen on making their mark and subsequently nailing their place in the flight to Australia for the T20 World Cup.
IND vs SA: From Dinesh Karthik to Umran Malik – Check out FIVE players for whom South Africa series will be TICKET to T20 World Cup
Check out five players for whom this series will serve as a ticket to T20 World Cup:
1. Dinesh Karthik
Dinesh Karthik faced a make-or-break season in IPL 2022. After being released by Kolkata Knight Riders, he found a new home in Royal Challengers Bangalore and became an instant star for them, playing one match-winning knock after another.
Karthik scored 330 runs overall in this competition, but more than his runs tally, it is his excellent strike rate of 183.33 that has forced the selectors to include him in the team. He now needs to deliver for the men in blue, with a wicketkeeping place at stake for the 2022 ICC T20 World Cup.
2. Ravi Bishnoi
Ravi Bishnoi had a fairly decent IPL 2022 campaign. Playing for Lucknow Super Giants, he picked up 13 wickets at an average of 35.07 and an economy rate of 8.44. Though Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal seem to be nailed on as India’s frontline spin duo for limited-overs format, many candidates are fighting to be the third, that is, the backup spinner. Hence, Bishnoi will aim to book his tickets for Australia by delivering in this series.

3. Kuldeep Yadav
The move from Kolkata Knight Riders to Delhi Capitals has revived not only Kuldeep Yadav’s IPL career, but his Indian career as well. He picked up 21 wickets in IPL 2022, and was among only five players who scalped 20+ wickets. It now seems certain that the selectors view the KulCha pair as India’s best spin options, but on the flip side, Kuldeep will know perfectly well how a poor series can get him the axe once again. Hence, consistency will be the key for him.
4. Umran Malik
For our last two mentions, we will discuss two of India’s upcoming pace talents who are very different in their mode of operation. First up is Umran Malik, the gun pacer from Sunrisers Hyderabad who surprised everyone with his raw pace. Known for hitting 150+ kmph on a consistent basis, Malik will aim to rattle the Proteas’ batters and subsequently seal his place for the T20 World Cup.

5. Arshdeep Singh
While Umran Malik picked up 22 wickets, Arshdeep Singh got only 10 wickets. Yet, he has been selected for this tour for some justifiable reasons. Arshdeep is not the fastest among India’s upcoming pacers, but what sets him apart is his economy rate and variation. The Punjab Kings’ pacer bowls regularly at the death overs and is very miser, given that with his change of pace and line, it becomes difficult for the batters to score runs off Arshdeep’s bowling.
