The BCCI has often fluctuated the prize money by changing the amount over the years.
“That (increasing prize money) is currently under discussion. The prize money should be increased by 20-25% from next year. But the amount is not yet final. There should be a decision next year before the tournament,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

The rise in the amount of the prize money is based on quite a few factors. First of all, the apex governing for cricket of the country, BCCI received huge sponsorship deals worth 1000 crores, and secondly, with 10 teams participating this season, the BCCI found enough money to increase the prize money cap.
2020 saw a decrease in prize money owing to Covid. The Pandemic affected the global economy and with reduced sponsorship deals, the prize money had to be reduced.
