DC announce on Twitter – Taking to their Twitter, DC wrote, “Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw has been discharged from the hospital where he was being treated for a bout of typhoid. Shaw has returned to the team hotel where he is currently recuperating while being monitored by the DC medical team.”
The batter has had a solid IPL season so far, with 259 runs in 9 games at an average of 28.78. His personal best score is 61. Shaw has cracked two half-centuries for DC this season. He had to miss the last three fixtures of his team.
Shaw’s return will be a major boost for DC. Shaw had himself shared an Instagram post from his hospital bed, saying he is hopeful of coming back soon. In his absence, the team has struggled to find an able replacement to partner the in-form David Warner. Both Mandeep Singh and Srikar Bharat have fizzled out at the top
While Shaw’s availability for the upcoming games is not known, but it seems like he could come back into the playing XI if Delhi can manage to get into the playoffs stage of the tournament. DC still have to win their last two games in the IPL to stand any chance to enter the top four.
Coming to the side, DC have won six matches out of their 12 and are currently at the fifth place. They will next take on Punjab Kings in a crucial encounter which has bearings on the playoff places. If either team loses the match, their journey is virtually over.
