While it seemed Virat Kohli was back in form with a half-century against Gujarat Titans, a 33-ball 30-run knock against CSK changed that perception. Kohli’s world once again came crashing down when he was dismissed for third golden duck in the season.

Will RCB drop Virat Kohli? – If Kohli was another batsman, he would have been dropped long ago. But even in the crucial match against Punjab Kings, it is unlikely that Faf du Plessis or Sanjay Bangar or Mike Hesson would pull off such a move. It will not only upset the fans but will also upset the team’s confidence. Barring any injury concerns, Virat Kohli will keep his place.
However, other than Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis seems to have his combination sorted. The opening may not have worked out due to Kohli’s struggles but Rajat Patidar at No 3 has been an excellent soldier for Du Plessis.

Shahbaz Ahmed and Mahipal Lomror can play the anchor role while Dinesh Karthik 2.0 has been proven to be too hot to handle by bowlers. In bowling department, Mohammed Siraj and Josh Hazlewood have been excellent with the new ball in the last two games. Harshal Patel has aided well in the middle-overs and death. Wanindu Hasaranga has found his mojo with 21 wickets this season.
However, Faf du Plessis’ own misfiring form could be a concern. While he has hit three fifty-plus scores, the RCB captain has also managed three single-digit scores. With Kohli completely out of form, the onus will be on Du Plessis to score the bulk of runs.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (4th, 14 Points): Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) clinched a much-needed win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad to boost their qualification hopes. The 67-run thrashing also boosted their poor NRR keeping them in contention for the spot in the top 4.
- RCB need to win all of their two remaining games to seal playoff spot.
- RCB can qualify with 1 wins in 2 matches but or 16 points but other results will have to go their way.
- If they win one out of two, they may crash out if SRH and DC win their remaining games.
- RCB Remaining Matches: PBKS, GT
