Prithvi Shaw was hospitalised with fever and while he is out of the hospital, he is too weak. It will take him few days to recover completely. In his absence, KS Bharat is the ideal choice. The wicketkeeper-batter impressed in Royal Challengers Bangalore colours last season.

However, in his only game this season, Bharat lasted just five balls, scoring eight runs. However, Ripal Patel too did not impress as Lalit Yadav replaced the former.

However, it is DC’s bowling too that hasn’t been up to the mark. Kuldeep Yadav was taken to cleaners while only Khaleel Ahmed put up a respectable number. Anrich Nortje did bag three wickets but he too was smashed for 42 runs in his 4 overs. In the game against RR, it was Chetan Sakaria who was preferred over Khaleel Ahmed.

“Our last match against CSK certainly wasn’t our best game. CSK batted incredibly well to be able to get the total that they did. We were a little bit off with our execution with the ball. And we just had one of those days with the bat when things didn’t go our way,” DC assistant coach Shane Watson said.

DC Playing XI vs RR: Rishabh Pant must make decisive changes
  • DC’s wounds were open with a 91-run loss against CSK in the last game.
  • DC’s bowling wasn’t up to the mark with Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway both targeting Kuldeep Yadav.
  • With another high-scoring game on the cards at DY Patil Stadium, Delhi need their batters to come good.
  • Rishabh Pant can’t be playing irresponsible shots and give away his wickets.
  • If DC lose the match, they will also virtually go out of race.
  • In Prithvi Shaw’s absence, KS Bharat and David Warner will have to play decisive knocks.
  • Off-spin all-rounder Lalit Yadav can also be a good option.

RR vs DC Playoff Race:

Rajasthan Royals (3rd, 14 Points): Sanju Samson’s RR side remained on third spot after their 6-wicket win against Punjab Kings. But they remain one of the favourites to qualify for the playoffs. Rajasthan only need two more wins to guarantee a place in the playoffs with three games left in the tournament.

  • RR need to win at least two in three remaining matches to seal their deal.
  • RR can also qualify with 16 points or one win in three games but other results will have to go their way.
  • RR Remaining Matches: DC, LSG, CSK

Delhi Capitals (5th, 10 Points): Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered a catastrophic 91-run loss to Chennai Super Kings. The thrashing badly hit their NRR which will be the differentiator in the Top 4 race. DC will now need to win all their three remaining matches to qualify for the playoffs.

  • DC need to win all three matches to seal playoff berth.
  • DC will also have to improve their NRR which took a hit.
  • DC Remaining matches: RR, PBKS, MI
