He feels that the J&K pacer must be getting too much advice and expectations but it’s important to cut away the distractions. He is of the opinion that the faster he learns to counter all these things, the better for him in future.

“When you are playing at the highest level, very soon you realise that you have to control your actions (off the field). There will be so many advisors, so many expectations to fulfill but players who play at the highest level very soon cordon all that off and focus on what is to be done,” Laxman told reporters.

“I am sure Umran or anyone who plays for the country will learn that very soon. The sooner they learn that, they will be successful. So no need of bouncers (around him), it is important to bowl bouncers,” he added.
Meanwhile, SRH head coach Tom Moody has backed Umran Malik to come back stronger in remaining fixtures of IPL 2022.
“It’s a real learning experience for him. Looking at the volume of cricket that he has had is very, very minimal really. He’s not used to playing this regular cricket, the high intensity of the cricket that IPL brings. We are doing our best to support and guide him to learn from these experiences,” Moody said.
