WWE Reportedly Scrapped Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre for WrestleMania Backlash

WWE fans saw the Tribal Chief involved in the tag team unification match between RK-Bro and The Usos until Drew McIntyre got involved. Initially, WWE had no proper plans for Reigns to feature in Roman Reigns and give a build-up for a new opponent in a short time of 4 weeks.

Recently, Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated WWE’s initial plan for Roman Reigns vs Drew McIntyre and why WWE didn’t want both superstars to be in the main event of WrestleMania Backlash for a title match. He claimed WWE scrapped the plan for lack of interest and eventually save the match for further Premium Live Event.

”What we were told is that the decision was made to save Reigns vs. McIntyre for the bigger summer shows. The idea is with the smaller building, and coming four weeks after WrestleMania, the interest level wasn’t going to be that high, and they need big matches for the bigger shows,” stated Meltzer. Precisely, WWE is planning to save Reigns vs McIntyre for a big Premium Live Event. Although both men have competed earlier on live events, WWE seems to hold the pan to give big excitement for the match.
