Erling Haaland is currently one of the hottest prospects in world football. The young prodigy is scoring goals for fun for the Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund, and it is expected that he will land a huge contract with one of the biggest clubs in the world very soon, possibly Manchester City.

Haaland is receiving many accolades and for justifiable reasons, but one such honour he has received recently might not add to his glamour. A statue of him has been unveiled in the Norwegian town of Algard, which is close to his hometown Jaeren, and the statue has become a laughing stock for football fans.
Norwegian artist Kjetil Barane was charged with the task of creating a wooden sculpture of the Dortmund frontman using a chainsaw, and the end result is a gigantic three metres tall and 700+ kgs heavy statue.

“It is a great honour for me to be allowed to make him as a sculpture, it’s really tough. It is very nice to work with wood. You can see that it bursts and lives, it gets its own character,” Barane told NRK after completing the sculpture.
This is not the first time when a football has been subjected to a bizarre statue. Previously, Portuguese icon Cristiano Ronaldo’s weird bronze bust was unveiled at the Madeira airport back in 2017, whereas his statue in the Indian state of Goa also got many laughs. Similarly, a Mohamed Salah statue which was unveiled in Sharm El-Sheikh back in 2018 also went instantly viral on the internet for its hilarious appearance.
