IPL 2022: What was Shami’s golden piece of advice to Mohsin Khan?
- After spending three years with Mumbai Indians, Mohsin finally got a chance against LSG in the ongoing season of IPL
- He delivered on the biggest stage by picking four wickets against DC. Things though were not the same in the 2020 & 2021 seasons of IPL
- That is when Mohsin met Shami and started to train under him during the lockdown. The GT pacer saw enough spark in him.
- He even went on to give him a few useful tips and told him to just focus on his game a bit better
“Shami told him that Mohsin is a better bowler than him but just needed more focus. I called him during lockdown and said, jitna Shami ka dimag nichod sakta hai, kar le (Learn whatever you can from Shami)’. Things have changed after that,” Badruddin, Mohsin’s coach told to Indian Express.

IPL 2022: Shami recalls his limited opportunities in KKR from 2011-to 2013
Shami, who himself did not get any opportunities in KKR, told Badruddin that it was difficult to sit out without getting a game. That though is a golden opportunity to learn and evolve. Shami cashed in on that and he learned quite a few tricks by just interacting with Wasim Akram, who was the KKR bowling coach at that time.
“I told Mohsin, ‘see how Shami picked all the tricks from Wasim Akram.’ He has to do the same. Such opportunities should not be wasted, it will help him in the future,” the coach narrates.

The young LSG pacer bowler has cashed in on the learnings of Shami and has turned a corner in the ongoing IPL season.
