Hamilton opted for a cryptic way to answer all questions on his possible retirement. He took to his social media handle and posted, “Working on my masterpiece, I’ll be the one to decide when it’s finished.”

Hamilton has persevered through a troublesome Formula 1 2022 season up to this point. He finished in the thirteenth spot at the last end of the week at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. What was more damning for the Mercedes driver is that he was lapped by his adversary Max Verstappen, who ultimately dominated the race.

Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko could not let go of this golden opportunity to take a dig at Hamilton, as he said “I mean, he was lapped by us in Imola GP. Maybe he should have stopped last year, he is thinking! Maybe.”

Meanwhile, Max Verstappen also didn’t hold back and commented on lapping Hamilton. “I mean, they’ve been slow all year so it’s not really a surprise or I feel happy lapping Lewis compared to anyone else, but it is what it is,” said Verstappen.

Lewis Hamilton has just accumulated 28 points so far this season from four races and is placed in the seventh position in the Drivers’ standings. Given his recent struggles, it will be interesting to see what Hamilton has in store for the coming weeks.
