Mourinho’s move of picking players from the Premier League has really worked for his Roma side after former Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham stole the limelight by putting up exceptional performances and by scoring 24 goals. On loan from Arsenal, Ainsley Maitland-Niles has also performed well with the limited chances he got for the Italian side.
Nemanja Matic has decided to leave Manchester United in the summer of 2022. The veteran Serbian confirmed his decision a couple of days previously. Matic has previously played under Mourinho at Chelsea and Manchester United. The midfielder even won the prestigious Premier League under Mourinho for the London Blues.

Serie A: AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho plots MEGA STEAL from his former team Manchester United, targets three players
The remaining two players targetted by Mourinho, i.e Diogo Dalot and Eric Bailly are both players who have been brought by the Portuguese manager during his term in Manchester United. Diogo Dalot has already proved his worth in the Serie A when he spent a season-long loan at AC Milan.
With new manager Eric Ten Hag all set to take the reins of the Manchester Reds, come summer, both Dalot and Bailly are deemed as surplus players who don’t find themselves under the playing system of the Dutch coach. It can be assumed that both the players can improve their gameplay in Serie A with age being considerably on their side. Baily despite being 28 years old can easily fit into the Roma team, while a 23-year-old Dalot has enough time to improve.
Jose Mourinho is also understood to target Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz. The 23-year-old midfielder is yet to reach his peak and can flourish under Mourinho and his game plan.
