England Test Team Coach – Justin Langer Ignored: England & Wales Cricket Board has dropped the idea of roping in Justin Langer as Test team coach. - Langer’s strict coaching style created apprehensions in ECB’s mind.
- Moreover newly appointed director of England Cricket Rob Key wants separate coach for white-ball and red ball duties. Langer was not receptive to the idea.
- According to reports by The Telegraph and The Guardian, Key has already approached Gary Kristen for a Test coaching role
- England Cricket Board (ECB) also had reservations over Langer being a good fit for the role due to Ben Stokes factor
- Stokes is set to be named the next England Test team captain, and Key felt Langer might not be able to strike a chord

Kristen is the favorite to be named successor of Chris Silverwood.
Former India and South Africa coach was also set to succeed the then England coach Trevor Bayliss in 2019 but lost out to Silverwood.
Now ECB is inclined towards hiring Kirsten.
The former Australian cricketer Simon Katich is likely to be contracted as Kirsten’s DEPUTY. Katich has a huge amount of experience of playing Country cricket in England. He is currently also the coach of Manchester Originals in The Hundred competition.
