CSK’s Mitchell Santner made a biggest mess on the day as he dropped a straightforward opportunity near the boundary that went over the ropes for a six. The incident happened in the 9th over of the innings.
Bhanuka Rajapaksa hit Jadeja’s delivery to straight to Santner at deep-midwicket. The fielder who got his hands on the ball running backwards however squandered the opportunity as he failed to grab the ball which burst through his hands and fell over the rope, giving Rajapaksa a life as well as six valuable runs.

This was however not the first time Rajapaksa was dropped in the game as earlier Ruturaj Gaikwad too gave a life to the Sri Lankan batsman. In the seventh over of the innings he hit one straight up in the air towards deep square leg fielder. Gaikwad ran from the boundary and put in a dive. He got his hands to the ball but failed to grab it spilling the opportunity.

Throughout the season, CSK fielders are struggling on the field with their butterfingers as they have dropped 15 catches in eight matches this year which is the most by any team in IPL 2022.

Meanwhile Amit Mishra tweeted that CSK is missing Raina in the field this season. Raina is known to be one of the best fielders in Indian cricket and Mishra in his tweet said,“Chennai Super Kings is missing @imraina in fielding, more than anything else at the moment. Quick fire throws, direct hits and forever safe catching hands.” Raina who had played 13 seasons for Chennai Super Kings went unsold at this year’s auction.
