1. Faf du Plessis
The Yellow Army made a bid for Du Plessis in the IPL mega auction in 2022, when Royal Challengers Bangalore opened their account and signed the South African star for INR 7 crore. Former head coach Ravi Shastri believes Chennai Super Kings should not have let him leave the team because he might have succeeded MS Dhoni as CSK captain ahead of the 2022 IPL season.
Du Plessis debuted in the IPL in 2012 and has since appeared in over 100 games. He enjoyed performing under MS Dhoni’s captaincy and spent several seasons with CSK. CSK made several offers for his services in an attempt to keep him in the team, but they withdrew when his price exceeded INR 3.2 crore.
