Defending world champion Max Verstappen has suffered reliability issues and has had to retire twice from just three races. It is pretty clear that the Dutch driver is not pleased with the scheme of things at Red Bull and Marko has urged the team to sort out their problems as quickly as they can.
“He is an emotional and passionate driver who will always give his opinion. But, in my view, he is a lot calmer, calmer than in the past. If we don’t win again soon, then he is indeed a time bomb,” said Marko.

Max Verstappen had to retire from the season opener at Bahrain Grand Prix due to a fuel pump issue. He then followed it with a win at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix claiming all 25 points.
YES BOYS 🙌 P1☝️
Feels amazing to be on top after such an exciting race 🤩
It was definitely not easy out there today but it’s really nice to battle like that. Very happy we were able to put it all together and kickstart the season 💪#SaudiArabianGP 🇸🇦 pic.twitter.com/3SJlYXFKrc

However, the agony returned once again as while he was looking set for a P2 finish at the Australian Grand Prix, another fuel leak issue saw him retire his car. From just three races Verstappen has now retired twice and dropped 36 points.
Gutted. Very frustrating to end another race like this as we were looking at an easy P2 😤
Congrats to @SChecoPerez on scoring another podium. 💪
We have to work hard the coming days to get on top of things and improve for Imola. pic.twitter.com/6hEUlkvwZK

Verstappen said after the Australian Grand Prix that he is now losing any expectation of holding his World Championship title crown. Meanwhile, there are talks that if Verstappen fails to defend his title solely because of Red Bull’s mechanical failures, his relationship with the team could be strained.
Formula 1: Max Verstappen sees himself in the sixth spot in the Drivers’ standings and 46 points behind leader Charles Leclerc.“At the moment, there is no reason to believe in it. We need to be faster than Ferrari, which we’re not. And have zero problems with the car, which we also don’t have. So it’s going to be a big task,” said Verstappen.
