Villeneuve recently said that George Russell, Hamilton’s teammate, has adjusted himself to the Mercedes W13 car in a much better banner than Lewis has, since the latter has not had to drive slow cars in his career.

“George Russell can still handle the car to some degree. Maybe that’s because of his years at Williams where he also had to drive a difficult car. But, Lewis Hamilton is not coping at all. He’s always had a perfect car, he never had to push because they were so much faster,” said Villeneuve, and this hasn’t gone down well with the seven-time world champion.
Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton finished fourth at the 2022 Australian Grand Prix. Hamilton broke his silence and gave his unfiltered reaction by saying, “I find it amusing, some of the things that come out of his mouth. I remember my first go-kart was fifth-hand. I’ve driven lots of different cars and found myself relatively adaptable. So I should be good.”

Mercedes are facing porpoising issues this year which has left them behind against the likes of Red Bull and Ferrari. Their up-gradation of the car is even hampered because of this issue. The Silver Arrows team needs to find a cure to this problem if they have to fight for the titles.

While George Russell sees himself second in the Drivers’ standings with 37 points, Lewis Hamilton is in the fifth spot with 28 points. Both Hamilton and Mercedes will be aiming to improve leaps and bounds in the coming days.
