“Obviously that didn’t help us,” Xavi said. “We expected 70,000 or 80,000 Catalans, but it looked more like a final with a split crowd.

“It was a miscalculation of ours, yes. The club is checking what happened.”

However, Camp Nou experienced a hospital atmosphere after an estimated 25000 to 30000 Frankfurt fans made it to the stadium. It has also come to light that numerous corporate sponsor and season ticket holder seats were given up by the home fans which paved way for the German fans to get their seats in the stadium.

Barcelona manager claims that a miscalculation in terms of allotment of the away tickets took place. As a result, an investigation is done by the club to find out how so many Frankfurt fans made their way into the stadium.

The Catalan home fans weren’t too happy after seeing such a sheer number of away fans. As a mark of protest, the home Barcelona fans started to leave the stadium 10 minutes prior to the completion of the game.

As per reports from multiples sources, Barcelona could face Disciplinary action from the UEFA. This is primarily owing to the allowance of that huge number of away fans in their home stadium.

“I was very surprised that there were so many of them,” defender Ronald Araujo said. “The club will have to see how it was possible that there were so many rival fans.”

Director Jordi Cruyff added: “I was surprised by the crowd. It didn’t even feel like a home game. It happened, I don’t know if it influenced the result. The appropriate person must answer questions on this.”
