IPL 2022: From Dewald Brevis to Ayush Badoni; Check 5 Biggest FINDS of IPL 2022 so far
Let us check out the five biggest finds of IPL 2022:
Ayush Badoni (Gujarat Titans)
The ‘Baby AB’ of the Lucknow Super Giants is undoubtedly one of the most impressive youngsters this season. He scored a gutsy fifty on his IPL debut, even when his team was in trouble. Ayush Badoni has been phenomenal in a few of his appearances in IPL.
Scripting his debut in the cash-rich league in splendid fashion, 22-year-old Indian batter Ayush Badoni headlined the game with his remarkable display in the Lucknow Super Giants vs Gujarat Titans match, by smashing an impeccable half-century. Coming in to bat at the sixth position for Lucknow, as the team was hanging on 29/4 in the fifth over, Badoni played a perfect wingman to Deepak Hooda before taking over the baton and smashing his individual half-century. Since then, he has played multiple impressive knocks.
Dewald Brevis (Mumbai Indians)
South Africa’s batting prodigy Dewald Brevis announced his arrival in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Wednesday when the Mumbai Indians youngster thwacked a 25-ball 49 against Punjab Kings in Match 23 of the ongoing tournament.
Brevis’s, nicknamed ‘Baby AB’, innings wasn’t enough to help MI to avoid their fifth consecutive defeat in the tournament but his swashbuckling efforts in a particular over gave MI fans plenty of reason to be optimistic for the upcoming games.
Tilak Varma (Mumbai Indians)
A promising southpaw from Hyderabad, Tilak Varma has had impressive outings in the first week of IPL. He had big shoes to fill in MI’s batting line-up in the absence of the likes of Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav (injury) but he has done a fine job. He has shown everyone that he can make quickfire runs and can also give stability after fall of early wickets.
His knock of 61 off 33 balls against Rajasthan Royals is enough to understand what a player he is. MI had huge expectations while bidding for him at the auction. Varma made his T20 debut for Hyderabad in the 2018-19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The 19-year-old was a part of the Indian side for the 2020 U-19 World Cup. MI has been a franchise that has groomed many young players into match-winners. Tilak Varma can be the next product from the Mumbai Indians.
Maheesh Theekshana (Chennai Super Kings)
Current IPL Mahesh Deekshna, a young spinner who plays for the Chennai Super Kings this season, has been performing magic with his spin balls.
Mahesh Deekshna has made his entry into world cricket by showing amazing talent in local cricket in his home country. He has also played in the T20 League series and the T10 series in between. He was one of the top 15 bowlers in the world at the 2021 T20 World Cup. In a match of that series, Mahesh bowled only 4 overs and gave up only 13 runs to give his team bowlers all the run.
Jitesh Sharma (Punjab Kings)
Not many would have expected Jitesh Sharma to even be anywhere near the playing XI of Punjab Kings, but the batter from Maharashtra has turned out to be a pretty reliable customer for Mayank Agarwal’s team. The 28-year-old has played three matches so far and has scored 20+ runs in all of those matches, including an impressive 30 against Mumbai Indians.
