Washington Sundar suffered a split in his webbing between the thumb and index finger while fielding against Gujarat Titans on April 11. Head coach Tom Moody later clarified that he will miss at least a week to recover from the injury.
“Washington has torn the webbing in his right hand, between his thumb and first finger. We must monitor that over the next two-three days. Hopefully, it isn’t a significant blow. I’d imagine it’d take probably a week or so to settle down,” Tom Moody said after the GT match.
That is a big blow for SRH who are on a comeback trail. Kane Williamson & Co bounced back with two wins in a row after losing the opening two matches. Sundar has played a pivotal role in that resurgence and SRH will have to rely on a misfiring Abdul Samad.

SRH Playing XI vs KKR: Abdul Samad or Shreyas Gopal?
- Abdul Samad managed 4 & 0 against RR and 0.
- He was dropped after the two games having retained him for Rs 4 Crore.
- He is set to return with Washington Sundar injured.
- SRH also have Shreyas Gopal in their arsenal and could be a valuable addition considering he is an excellent batsman as well besides being a leg-spinner.
- SRH purchased him for Rs 75 lakh from the auction and could strengthen SRH’s spin attack in Sundar’s absence as Samad isn’t considered among reliable spinners.
As for other positions, SRH have finally found the balance with Abhishek Sharma and Kane Williamson firing while T Natarajan leading the pace attack with deadly yorkers. Shashank Singh, despite a big reputation in domestic games, is yet to make any contribution with the bat or the ball and hence SRH will persist with him.
