IPL 2022: Graeme Swann comes out in SUPPORT of Hardik Pandya after GT captain abuses Mohammed Shami, claims ‘it doesn’t make him a BAD CAPTAIN’
Kane Williamson attacks Hardik Pandya – SRH put a stop to GT’s winning streak by chasing down 163 with 8 wickets remaining. Hardik had only given up 5 runs in his first two overs, but when he returned to bowl his third over, Kane Williamson went after him, hitting the medium pacer for two consecutive sixes, helping SRH manage the asking run rate after a slow start.
Hardik shouting at Shami – Hardik then had a chance to dismiss Williamson’s batting partner Rahul Tripathi. The batter attempted to guide a well-directed bouncer over the third man, but could not get his connection right. As the ball rose in the air, Shami had a chance to catch it and send the batter back, but instead of moving ahead, he went back to save the boundary. This didn’t go down well with Hardik, who was seen shouting at Shami for not going for the catch.

Swann’s response to Star Sports– Even as some fans criticized Hardik for losing control of his emotions during a crucial moment, Swann insisted that GT’s first loss during their debut IPL journey wasn’t due to his captaincy.

“I will tell you what we shouldn’t do though. We shouldn’t look at it and say all of a sudden Hardik is not a good captain. The fact that they did not score enough runs lost them the game, not Hardik Pandya’s captaincy. He shuffled his packs quite well but of course; your nerves get a bit fried as a skipper or a bowler (in tense situations). It was not Hardik’s captaincy but the lack of runs that cost them,” Swann told Star Sports.
Hardik’s good bowling – Hardik scored a relatively restrained knock of 50 but bowled well for his stats of 1/27 in 4 overs but they were insufficient as SRH chased down the total with 8 wickets in hand.
