Posting a picture of the 28-year old pacer bowling in the practice session, Delhi Capitals tweeted, “Anrich Nortje, Training. That’s it. That’s the post.” His return to the playing XI, will bolster the Rishabh Pant led side, who have suffered a loss in their previous game against Gujarat Titans after defeating Mumbai Indians in the first game.
However, before making it to the playing XI, Nortje has to get clearance from Cricket South Africa.
“I think he (Nortje) has to get through another maybe four or five-over spell at 100 percent capacity and then I think if he gets clearance from Cricket South Africa, he should be right to go,” Ricky Ponting said.
Nortje is expected to receive the clearance from CSA’s medical team this week.

Nortje last played the T20 World Cup in November. He then suffered a hip injury in December, just ahead of the Test series against India. He was subsequently ruled out of the series as well as the next one against Bangladesh. Without even being 100% fit, he joined Delhi Capitals’ IPL camp earlier this month and continued his recovery.
The pacer took 12 wickets in eight matches for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021 at an economy of 6.61. He was retained by the franchise before the auction this year for Rs 6.5 Crore. He was preferred ahead of his compatriot Kagiso Rabada.
