The incident occurred on the second ball of the penultimate over of the RCB innings. Experienced wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik, who ensured RCB’s victory, survived the crucial runout as KKR gave their best to take the match to the last over.
The costly miss took the game away from KKR despite excellent bowling figures from Tim Southee and Umesh Yadav towards the final moments of the game. At that point of time, RCB needed 15 runs from 10 balls with 3 wickets in their bag.
Dinesh Karthik smashed consecutive fours in the final over after escaping the big drama. He finished with unbeaten 14 runs off just 7 balls. As a result, RCB added the first two points in the latest IPL 2022 Points Table.
