Saudi Arabia GP: Q3 session Live: After the ending of Qualifying session 3, Sergio Perez goes fastest after setting a lap time of 1m28.200s. Charles Leclerc is second fastest after setting a lap time of 1m28.225s. Carlos Sainz is third fastest after setting a lap time of 1m28.402s. Max Verstappen finished in the fourth position with Esteban Ocon taking the fifth spot. George Russell takes the sixth spot followed by Fernando Alonso who settles for the seventh spot. Valtteri Bottas will start tomorrow’s race in the eighth position. Pierre Gasly takes the ninth spot and Haas’ Kevin Magnussen finished at tenth spot.

  • Carlos Sainz says, “The lap for P3 was pretty good, it was on a used tyre. The new tyre for some reason is tricky for me. On the new tyre in the end of Q3, I didn’t have the grip. Should be an exciting race.”

  • Charles Leclerc says, “In the second lap, I went for it and I pretty much put it together. I definitely did not expect Checo to come with that lap time so congratulations to him.”

  • Sergio Perez says, “What a lap, unbelievable. I can do 1,000 laps and I don’t think I could beat that one, it was unbelievable. We weren’t expecting to match the Ferraris in qualifying, we were focussing on the race.”

  • Sergio Perez goes fastest after setting a lap time of 1m28.200s. Charles Leclerc is second fastest after setting a lap time of 1m28.225s. Carlos Sainz is third fastest after setting a lap time of 1m28.402s.

  • The Q2 session ends. Carlos Sainz goes fastest in the Q2 session after setting a lap time of 1m28.686s. Charles Leclerc is now second after setting a lap time of 1m28.780. Sergio Perez is third after setting a lap time of 1m28.924s.

  • The session resumes after a 57-minute delay.

  • The session will resume in six minutes.
  • Statement from the FIA: “Assessment at the Medical Centre revealed no injuries, and Schumacher has been transferred to King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital, Jeddah, for precautionary checks.”

  • Guenther Steiner, Haas Team Principal says, “I spoke with his Mum and kept her updated. He has no injuries that you can see, but they want to do some scans to make sure there was no impact from the forces. The impact broke up the digital technology so we heard nothing on the radio but we got word he was conscious. The car is completely broken. We need to see the scans, see how he is doing and then see what we do tomorrow. We need to see what position we are in with spare parts, you need to build a completely new car. It shows how safe the cars are, with the increased chassis stiffness for this year.”
  • FIA race director Niels Wittich has been inspecting Turns 9 to 12 but seems unhappy with the clean-up of oil at the moment.
  • Update from Haas can confirm Mick appears physically fine. He has spoken to his mom etc. Likely being taken to the hospital for a scan as a precaution.
  • The FIA is currently inspecting the circuit, following the clean-up operation.
  • Lewis Hamilton after crashing out in the Q1 session says, “I just struggled with the balance of the car, not where we want to be.”
  • The marshals are clearing up the car, which is proving to be a messy job as the car’s broken in two as the gearbox comes away.
  • The medical car has arrived on the track. Mick Schumacher still seems to be in the cockpit at the moment.
  • Just under five minutes left in the Q2 session to end.
  • This is the second red flag of the night. All the drivers head back into the pit lane. It’ll take some time to clear the debris from the track.

  • Mick Schumacher has a huge crash at Turn 12 as the red flags come out.
  • Carlos Sainz is in the fourth position after setting a lap time of 1m29.039s.
  • Charles Leclerc goes fastest in the Q2 session after setting a lap time of 1m28.883s. Sergio Perez is now second after setting a lap time of 1m28.924. Max Verstappen is third after setting a lap time of 1m29.618s.
  • The Q2 session gets underway.
  • We’ve got an investigation between Daniel Ricciardo and Kevin Magnussen over a potential unsafe release in the pit lane. That’ll be investigated post-qualifying.

  • Carlos Sainz goes fastest after setting a lap time of 1m28.855s. Charles Leclerc is second after setting a lap time of 1m29.039. Max Verstappen is third after setting a lap time of 1m29.330s.
  • The Qualifying session resumes.
  • Lando Norris is third fastest after setting a lap time of 1m30.568s.
  • “I don’t know how the rear just let go there,” Nicholas Latifi says over the radio.

  • The red flag has come out as Nicholas Latifi has crashed at Turn 13. Meanwhile, this happened when both the Ferrari drivers were on their flying laps.
  • Mick Schumacher goes second fastest after setting a lap time of 1m30.525s.
  • Lando Norris sets a lap time of 1m30.568s and goes second. Kevin Magnussen is the fastest after setting a lap time of 1m30.425s.
  • The Haas boys are first on the road, Mick Schumacher from Kevin Magnussen, with Guanyu Zhou and Nicholas Latifi behind them.

  • The Qualifying session gets underway.

In the FP1 session, Charles Leclerc had set a lap time of 1m30.772s. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was behind him as he set a lap time of 1m30.888s. Valtteri Bottas, the Alfa Romeo driver was the third-fastest after setting a lap time of 1m31.084s.

Saudi Arabia GP Live: Charles Leclerc tops in all the free practice sessions.

In the FP2 session, Charles Leclerc again topped the timesheet with a lap time of 1m30.074s. Max Verstappen was again in the second spot after setting a lap time of 1m30.214s. Carlos Sainz, the other Ferrari driver was in the third spot after setting a lap time of 1m30.320s.

In the FP3 session, Charles Leclerc again topped the timesheet after setting a lap time of 1m29.735s. Max Verstappen was again chasing him as he came second after setting a lap time of 1m29.768s. Sergio Perez was in the third position as he set a lap time of 1m29.833s.

Saudi Arabia GP Live: How the Qualifying session works

The qualifying session will start at 22:30 IST today. The qualifying session is divided into three parts, Q1, Q2, and Q3. Q1 lasts 18 minutes and has all 20 cars on the grid. At the end of Q1, the five slowest cars are eliminated. Drivers who finish 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20 are eliminated.

Q2 session lasts for 15 minutes and has 15 cars on the grid. Again the slowest cars are eliminated from 11th to 15th position. Q3 lasts for 12 minutes and has 10 cars on the grid. The position in which the drivers finish in Q3 will be their starting grid positions for the race.
